Natural Stone and Driftwood Designs

The Temblor Range is a rugged, arid California Coast mountain range. This little tornado was found in the highly notable San Andreas fault area. The Madrone driftwood base was collected from the Big Sur coastline. Two natural elements, a two hour drive away from each other, come together perfectly in this unique piece. Known as “liquid light” Selenite is known for it’s cleansing and clearing abilities. Often placed in workspaces or meditation areas to relieve mental clutter, enhance focus, and promote deep inner peace.

This sculpture is made using a Redwood Burl base. The mushroom cap is Oak inlayed with Big Sur Jade and Beach Glass. The stem is a deer antler shed. The elements to create this guy took many months of collecting raw materials and planning the design. Would look wonderful displayed with a collection of gems and minerals.

At almost 20” in length the Base of this Forest Mushroom sculpture is a gorgeous Redwood Burl that has definitely been through a fire, as the rich brown tones of the wood suggest. It sat on the studio table for two and a half years before the perfect cap of Red Cedar presented itself, washed up on the Big Sur Coastline. A deer antler stem, the perfect shape and size was on hand to complete the piece. Patience and a love of these magical materials are what goes into each Branch Mountain creation. I could see this mushroom as a table centerpiece for a forest themed wedding or holiday gathering.

Each sculpture is an original creation. Because the materials are naturally formed, variation in color, texture, grain, cracks, knots, and weathering are part of the artwork’s character and are not considered defects.
The piece you see in the photographs is the exact piece you will receive.
For anyone who is a lover of all things Jade, Big Sur is the place to be. This Apple Green nephrite jade palm piece is smooth and soft to the touch. Historically used in many cultures as a talisman for good fortune and abundance, Jade is said to bless whatever it touches. The stone sits cradled in a Madrone driftwood root burl for a grounding and calming effect for any area of your home or office.
